Expert Advice For Easy And Healthy Organic Gardening

There are many all-natural methods out there you can use to grow a bright, vibrant, healthy organic garden. In order to use these methods, all you have to do is learn a little bit about them.

Allow your children to assist with the work to be done in your organic garden. Helping a garden grow is an excellent learning experience for kids, and it allows your family to spend time together while creating healthy, nutritious foods.

The ideal temperature to set your thermostat for indoor plants is between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit during the daylight hours. The temperature needs to remain steady and warm so the plants can grow. If there are times during the year when you would prefer not to have the temperature that high, another solution you can utilize is to purchase heat lamps for your organic plants.

For your flower beds, organic material should be used as mulch. Two or three inches should be enough. This will help to inhibit weed growth, helps to lock in moisture, and adds needed nutrients to your organic garden. This will also make your flowers appear beautiful and finished all year long.

When you are doing work in your garden, be efficient. Wasting time finding tools is inefficient gardening. Organize the tools you will need before you head to the garden, and put every item away when you finish your work. Even something like a carpenter’s tool belt or some cargo jeans work well to keep tools organized.

Keep plastic bags handy to cover your muddy gardening shoes. This helps you stay in the zone so that you can continue gardening when you have completed your tasks in the house.

Pine can make surprisingly great mulch. Some plants like acidic soil because they have high acidity. Plants like these thrive when you use pine needles as mulch. Cover the beds with a couple inches of needles and as they decompose, they will disperse acid to the soil.

Leave plenty of growing space when you plant your garden. It’s common to not think about how much space a plant will need once it’s full grown, and you don’t want to crowd your garden. Beyond just the physical space that the plants will need, you should also consider the airflow that the plants will require. Plant the plants appropriately when it comes to spacing the seeds.

Laundry Basket

When the time comes to harvest your produce, collect it using an old laundry basket. The basket will make a great strainer when you wash your vegetables. The produce can be rinsed off as it sits in the laundry basket, and extra water will drain out through the sides.

Don’t use pesticides – kill your weeds naturally! A layer of newspaper, several pages thick, placed over the ground will do the trick. Weeds require sunlight to grow. By covering them with a layer of newspaper, you are essentially suffocating the weeds due to a lack of light. The paper will break down quickly and cleanly, adding to your compost. In order to improve its attractiveness, add one mulch layer.

While any person can make a garden, the people who know what they are doing will get the best results. Try using these organic tips.
