Finally Have The Garden That You Have Been Dreaming Of!

Many people think of gardening as a hobby that is soothing and therapeutic. A lot of gardeners ask questions like what kind of equipment they should buy, what kind of soil should they purchase, or when they should plant seeds. Some basic advice will give budding gardeners the information needed to get started.

Lay sod properly. You will need to prepare your lawn soil before laying the sod. Weed the soil well, and till the entire lawn area. Using a light but firm touch, compact the soil until it is flat. Now make sure the soil is thoroughly dampened. The optimum layout of sod rows is to stagger them with offset joints. Pat your sod to form an even and flat surface, fill any gaps with some soil. The sod needs to be watered daily for two weeks, by which time it will be rooted and ready to walk on.

Your plants will respond better to gradual changes of environment. At first, only leave them outside for a brief period of time. Gradually increase the the time they spend outside over a one week period. Hopefully, after about a week or so, your plants should have adjusted to the change. Now you can transplant them without any worries.

Co2 Levels

Your plants will reach maximum growth if they have a sufficient supply of carbon dioxide. Plants tend to grow better when the CO2 levels are higher. Greenhouses typically provide plants with high levels of CO2. Make sure to keep CO2 levels high to provide the best growing environment for your plants.

You can use boiling water to get rid of weeds naturally. Water is cheaper than chemical herbicides, and less hazardous to humans and soil. Just pour out the water on the weeds being careful to avoid any nearby plants. Weeds will usually stop growing if boiling water damages their roots.

Before you start working in your garden, purchase a wheelbarrow and a good kneeling stool. Gardening can be very tough on the knees as you spend much time leaning near the ground, so a portable stool can make all the difference to your comfort. A wheelbarrow will come in handy to easily move dirt, rocks and other heavy objects.

Gardening does not require a lot of dollars to start, and yields tremendous benefits. The most important reward, however, is the sense of accomplishment you experience when your plants mature.
