How To Grow A Beautiful Organic Garden

There are a lot of methods out there for creating a brilliant organic garden. You just need to learn the methods and use them.

A great way to ensure that your organic garden will do well is to keep a section of your land unspoiled. The natural wildlife will spring up and make for a perfect organic habitat. Your cultivated garden spaces will benefit from the various insects and wildlife that will inhabit and pollinate the undeveloped space.

Preparing the soil for your perennial garden is easy. All you need to do is use a garden spade to slice under the turf, flip it over, then spread wood chips over the area about three to four inches deep. Let this sit for a couple weeks, next dig into it to plant your new plants.

You will garden more efficiently if you keep your tools close by. Use a large bucket, or wear rugged pants with several pockets. You will be much more productive if you can quickly get to your spade, pruning shears, trowel and watering can.

Have some plastic bags on hand that you can put over your gardening shoes if they are muddy. This way, you can get in and out quickly, and get back to work in the garden.

Pine is a wonderful mulch so do not discard the idea. Some plants like acidic soil because they have high acidity. If you are growing these types of plants, simply gather up fallen pine needles for use in your garden. Cover your beds with two inches of needles; acid will be dispersed into the soil as they decompose.

You need to avoid chores in your organic garden stacking up. Even doing just a few small things each day can keep chores from piling up and eventually becoming unmanageable. This will save you a lot of time in the long run. Try pulling a few weeds from the garden while your dogs are out doing their business.

A good general rule when planting your seeds into containers is that the depth of the planting should be about three times the size of the seed. Certain seeds are an exception to that rule, since they require sunlight to germinate, so they should be barely covered or not at all. Ageratum and petunias fall into this category. Read the instructions that came with the seeds, and do some research on the Internet to find out the sunlight that your seeds need.

Slugs are a nuisance that can be easily remedied with the use of an organic beer tramp. Place a jar into the soil so that the top of it’s mouth rests parallel with the soil. Fill it with beer to about one inch below the top of the jar. Slugs will be attracted to the beer and find themselves trapped.

A superior garden can be created when one has adequate knowledge about how they can render the most from their plants. Make use of these organic gardening tips.
