The ideal temperature to set your thermostat for indoor plants is between 65-75 degrees Fahrenheit during the daylight hours. Your plants will not grow well if it is too cold. If you are not willing to keep your house that warm during winter, you could always get the organic plants a heat lamp.

If you want to start a small organic garden indoors, evaluate the amount of natural light that is present. If your apartment or home does not receive a huge amount of sunlight, you might want to grow plants that adapt to medium and low light environments instead. If the type of plant does not help, you can always use lights to help.

Before planting your favorite perennials, you must first prepare the ground. Simply use a spade or small shovel to get under the grass or turf and flip it over. Then, using wood chips, cover the area to a depth of three or four inches. Allow the newly turned soil to sit for two weeks, then plant your perennials.

Once your seeds have germinated they will not need to be kept as warm as before. To ensure that your plants do not suffer shock, start eliminating the use of a heat source. If you have plastic films on your containers, remove them. Watch your seeds closely to find the right time to do this.
