Build A Beautiful Organic Garden With These Ideas

If you’re looking to infuse your home with some lovely natural beauty, there’s no better way than to start your own home garden! Gardening is also a great way to relieve stress and make your life happier. Read on for some tips on how to get the most out of your home garden!

You can use the wooden handles of your tools as measurement sticks. You can convert any large handle tool, such as a hoe, shovel, or rake into a measuring tool. Just run some measuring tape right on the floor next to the handles. Label the distances onto them using a permanent marker pen. Next time you work in the garden, you can have a larger ruler with you!

Use a sanitary laundry basket to pick your fruit and vegetable harvest. They are reusable and already have holes so you can rinse the dirt and debris off your yields. It acts like a strainer and will replace the function of wood baskets. Save money and stay green at the same time.

Recycle your coffee grounds and use them to acidify the soil for all of your acid loving plants. Plants that like an acidic soil include roses, tomatoes, cyclamen, violets, gardenias, begonias and hibiscus. Apply the grounds approximately one quarter inch thick for the best results. If you don’t care for coffee, leftover tea will produce the same results.

Every good gardener knows when the best time is to begin harvesting one vegetable or the other. Every vegetable has a proper time to be picked in order to capture the perfect flavor. Many vegetables are best when picked young; baby peas are a prime example. In contrast, tomatoes are best when left on the vine as long as possible. Research the best time to pick your produce.
